Canned cocktail review: 10 Torr's Greyhound soda + Cucumber cooler

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Canned cocktail review of 10 Torr Greyhound Soda and Cucumber Cooler
We are trying the final two canned cocktails from 10 Torr this week.

And I've been holding out on you - they are totally amazing, just like last week's. If you missed my review of 10 Torr's Lavender Lemonade and Torr Up Tea you can catch up here.

Last week the magic was in mixing the two canned cocktails. I didn't try that this week. I'm not sure grapefruit and cucumber would go well together. But if you try it let me know!

The Greyhound Soda and Cucumber Lime are both a-mazing on their own and in totally different ways. Both names lend you an idea of what they are going to be but the 10 Torr touch has made these cocktails 100 times better than what you're thinking.

Let's dive into the drinks, shall we?

Up first is the 10 Torr Greyhound Soda:

10 Torr canned cocktail review

I am not the biggest grapefruit fan so I've always been on the fence about greyhounds. Sometimes they are delicious and sometimes they are just sour and foul! And as you know by know, I'm not a sparkling water fan so I was unsure of this cocktail. Does "soda" mean it's like spiked seltzer?

Thankfully no! It is much more like a fizzy grapefruit soda, much to my excitement. I really enjoyed the carbonation of this cocktail - which it totally says on the can but I completely missed that at first.

The Greyhound Soda has a very manageable grapefruit-ness that I think anyone could get on board with whether you are team grapefruit or not. That nice citrus taste plus the bubbles earned it two thumbs up from me!.

Sweetness

One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

This is not a sweet cocktail - it is grapefruit after all! It is just sweet enough to not be sour. No grapefruit pucker-face required.

Booziness

One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

Like all of the 10 Torr cocktails this has two shots of vodka in each can. It officially rings in at 8% ABV.

Next up 10 Torr's Cucumber Cooler:

Canned cocktail review of 10 Torr Cucumber Cooler

When I tell you this tastes like the fancy fruit water they server you at swanky hotels I am not kidding! This cocktail is one of the most crisp and refreshing things I've tasted in a minute. It is literally boozy cucumber water and I'm here for it!

The Cucumber Cooler has just a hint of cucumber with a nice citrus touch of lime that gives it a surprising depth of flavor. When I initially tried all four flavors at the 10 Torr taproom in Reno, this is the one I loved first. I think it is because it is so different from any canned cocktail I've tried. It tastes exactly like the refreshing water they give you at a spa after your massage - and who doesn't want to bask in that kind of memory?

All joking aside, this cocktail is dreamy, light and boozy enough to relax you after even the most annoying day. Promise me you'll try it!

Sweetness

One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

This is another not-sweet cocktail. What it "lacks" in sweetness it makes up for in refreshment. I can't get over how much this tastes like spa water!

Booziness

One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

Officially this one also rings in at 8% ABV with those two shots of vodka in every can.

Would I buy these again?

Yep, yes, all day long! I can't wait to get all of my girl friends over for for a few of these canned cocktails from their Reno location. Learn more about the magic happening at 10 Torr on their website.
