Canned Cocktail Review: Curatif Espresso Martini

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Curatif Espresso Martini canned cocktail review by The Pursuit of Cocktails

SPOILER ALERT: This is my new quarantine cocktail

I know, I just killed the mystery. But in my defense, this cocktail is just way too good to bury the lead.

Curatif is a cocktail line that I have been watching on Instagram for awhile now and I decided to reach out, which is the first time I've ever done that. Turns out that Curatif is an Australian cocktail brand that hasn't made it to the US just yet (they are working on it as we speak) but they were happy to send me a few sample which was super amazing of them.

I know what you are thinking, I generally go for super cute packaging which is totally true. But what grabbed my interest with Curatif was that they are making cocktails that I rarely, if ever, see in the ready-to-drink section. Take this espresso martini for instance. And next week, I'm going to try their negroni. I have only seen one other pre-made negroni and I've never seen a martini of any kind. So obviously Curatif is doing something a little different and I love that, and had to know more.

Now the question is, does that pay off...?

Here is my official review of Curatif Espresso Martini:

5 out of 5

10! I give it ten cocktail shakers. Double my normal five star review. This. Is. The. Best. Holy crap. If this isn't my all-time favorite cocktail, it is definitely my top 3. Because really, how can you pick your favorite child?

I had super high hopes going into this review because I took a peek at the label and noticed it said the cocktail was made of Seven Seeds Coffee, Archie Rose Original Vodka, and coffee liqueur. Translated through my lens of roughly 100 canned cocktail review, real liqueur = real cocktail.

And this little, kinda ugly can, blew me away! This is one of the most decadent, luxurious cocktail I've ever had - canned or otherwise. I'm tell you guys, this canned cocktail thing is hitting it's stride. If Curatif can put a ready-to-drink cocktail like that in a can, there is absolutely zero reason to keep drinking crappy malt beverages pretending to be cocktails.

But back to the Curatif Espresso Martini, if any part of you likes coffee, you absolutely must try this tiny can. It's a 10 out of 5. Do I need to say it louder for the people in this back? If you ever seen this canned cocktail in a store, buy ALL OF THEM!! And maybe send me one as a thank you for the hot tip. 😉

Sweetness

2 out of 5 cocktail shakers
One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

While this is not a sweet cocktail, it is still super rich and indulgent. The coffee flavor is perfection (and hello, major coffee snob here). The creaminess is something I've never experienced from a canned cocktail. And the whole thing comes together in the most upscale way.

Even without a sweet finish, this cocktail felt like a super luxe dessert. I just can't say enough nice things about this cocktail.

Booziness

5 out of 5
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

Officially this one rings in at 16.4% ABV. LOVE IT! The higher ABV really does make it feel like an actual, factual martini - as opposed to a lighter malt beverage style canned cocktail masquerading as a martini.

Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?

Hell yes! I am sooo sooo sad that these are not available in the US yet. I would literally drive to another state to get more of these. I'm crying right now. Maybe if we all ask really really nicely, the amazing folks at Curatif will move the US to the top of their international distribution list.

Check out their full line and send them your pleas here: https://curatif.com/

Don't forget to check back next week when I try the negroni from Curatif.

Do you know of a canned cocktail I should try? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section.
