Canned cocktail review: Miami Cocktail Co Paloma & Margarita

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Miami Cocktail Co canned cocktail review of their Paloma and Margarita by The Pursuit of Cocktails

Happy Friday cocktail lovers! I'm back with the last of the Miami Cocktail Co's canned cocktail spritzers. This week I'm trying their Grapefruit & Hibisucs Paloma Spritz and the Elderflower & Ginger Margarita Spritz. If you missed my previous reviews you can catch up here and here.

So far I've really been enjoying these low cal, no sugar, no fake stuff, organic spritzers - especially the peach bellini!! While several of the other cocktails in this line have used organic rosé as the base, this week's cocktails use agave wine which is a base that is popping up more and more in the ready-to-drink cocktail market. I'm excited to see how that replaces what would traditionally be tequila in this week's paloma and margarita.

Let's sip!

Miami Cocktail Co Grapefruit & Hibiscus Paloma Spritz:

Overall score: 4/5

4 out of 5 cocktail shakers
Sweetness:
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
2 out of 5 cocktail shakers
Booziness: 4.2% ABV
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos
1 out of 5 cocktail shakers

This ready-to-drink paloma is different than what I was expecting and I really like it. It does have a strong grapefruit flavor but instead of being overly tart, it has a botanical flavor from the hibiscus that rounds out the grapefruit really well. It is also missing the tequila flavor a paloma would traditionally have which makes sense since there is no actual tequila in it but if I wasn't actively looking for the tequila flavor I wouldn't have even noticed it was gone. This is a really well done cocktail. It's different than any Paloma I've ever had but in a really good way. It's an experience!

If you like botanical cocktails then definitely don't miss out on this Miami Cocktail Co Paloma for that rich hibiscus flavor.

Miami Cocktail Co Elderflower & Ginger Margarita Spritz:

Overall score: 5/5

5 out of 5 cocktail shakers
Sweetness:
One shaker = not sweet at all // Five shakers = your teeth may curl
1 out of 5 cocktail shakers
Booziness:  4.2% ABV

Okay then! This one caught me off guard too. After trying the paloma and having that floral flavor front and center I was sort of expecting the same thing with this elderflower margarita. But actually the elderflower is much more subtle here and it is the classic margarita flavors that shine through closely followed by a nice dose of ginger. It's not quite a ginger beer level of ginger flavor but you can definitely pick it up and it is such a nice addition. Now I'm wondering why more margs don't have ginger flavor!

I loved this marg from first sip. I was prepared to have the Miami Cocktail Co peach bellini be my favorite of the bunch but this marg is a close tie. I highly recommend this one if you are looking for a good skinny margarita that won't make you feel like you are missing out.

10/10 - loving this organic margarita spritz!

Would I buy these again?

Yes, and not just because they are so pretty! Overall I really liked the flavors of this canned cocktail line from Miami Cocktails. Add in the fact that they are organic, gluten-free, vegan, sugar free, low cal, and use natural ingredients - literally what more can you ask for. LOL
