Review of Ole Smoky Whiskey Mini Bottles

Review of Ole Smoky Whiskey mini bottles in Salted Carmel, Peanut Butter, Mango Habanero, Peach, and Salted Watermelon

This week is all about whiskey! Flavored whiskey. Which might not *technically* be a cocktail but it has the same flavorful convenience of a ready-to-drink cocktail so I'm counting it.

A few months ago my favorite people at Ole Smoky sent me five of their new mini bottles to try. Each of these tiny bottles is 50ml of their fan favorite flavors and I have high expectations for these flavors after loving all of the Ole Smoky canned cocktails. If you missed it, I tried their ready-to-drink cocktail line a few months ago and instantly fell in loved them - especially the Apple Ginger. You can catch my full reviews here. So naturally, I'm excited to try anything Ole Smoky and the fact that it is whiskey only makes it better.

So let's sip!

Here is my official review of the Ole Smoky Whiskey Mini Bottles:

5 out of 5 cocktail shakers

After trying each of these, they are all so different and so distinct that they each deserve individual attention so here goes . . .
Ole Smoky Salted Watermelon - If I'm being totally honest, I tried this one first because it was the flavor I figured I would like the least. Something about watermelon flavored things never excites me. Let me just tell you, this whiskey is *not* watermelon flavored. It is just straight up, sweet summer watermelon in a bottle. It does not have even a hint of that fake watermelon flavor. This tastes exactly like eating a super ripe watermelon - but with a super boozy kick! It also isn't so salty. I would say it is just enough salt flavor to round off the sweetness of the melon. It is a must try!
Ole Smoky Mango Habanero - I was super skeptical try try this one too. I generally don't like mango so I really only tried it because I promised I would. And man I'm glad I did!! What the heck!?!? This is delicious!!
This Ole Smoky Mango Habanero whiskey is not fruity at all like I expected. Actually it is like a sweeter version of hot honey. It is just as sweet as it was hot with maybe a touch of mango flavor, but only if you are looking for it. I am  shook by how much I like this!
Ole Smoky Peach - Holy sweet Georgia peach! If there is one flavor in life that I love above all others, it is peach. I am a peach connoisseur and I am super super picky about my peaches. To the extent that one of my biggest regrets in life is moving to the West Coast and farther away from southern peaches. California peaches are okay but they are nothing like Georgia peaches in my book. So when I tell you that this Ole Smoky Peach whiskey taste like the sweet peach juice of those southern peaches I love so much - I almost cried! This Ole Smoky Peach whiskey is going to be my new go-to remedy when I am nursing a case of homesickness.
Ole Smoky Peanut Butter - Peanut Butter whiskey is one of my favorite discoveries of 2020. I have been trying pretty much every cocktail I see with peanut butter whiskey as an ingredient so I've been counting down the days until I could try Ole Smoky's version. It. Is. So. Good. My only regret here is that I have a mini bottle of it and not a full sized version - yet! 😉
Ole Smoky Salted Caramel - This one surprised me. I expected it to be a really sweet salted caramel flavor but actually it was less sweet and less salty than I had imagined. Instead it has this rich, not-so-sweet caramel flavor which actually makes it more interesting with more depth than you'd expect. The Ole Smoky Salted Caramel whiskey is the perfect example of why you should sample things before you make a decision about them.
I'm sure you can tell, I really like these! The Ole Smoky whiskeys are now on my favorites list. I was hoping I'd like the Peach which I 100% did but I never thought the Mango Habanero would be one of my favorites as well. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these. I highly recommend trying out the Ole Smoky flavored whiskeys! They are the perfect way to stay warm as the colder weather arrives.

Sweetness

4 out of 5 cocktail shakers
One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

Overall the Ole Smoky flavored whiskeys are on the sweeter end - which personally I love. I think I was most surprised by how sweet the Mango Habanero whiskey was.

The Peach and Peanut Butter were both sweet and pretty much in line with what I thought it would be.

The Salted Watermelon though was a lot sweeter than I expected. I guess I was hung up on the "salted" part of the name but it is actually more sweet than salty.

Of all five, the Ole Smoky Salted Carmel was the least sweet which sort of surprised me.

Booziness

5 out of 5 cocktail shakers
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = OG Four Lokos

The Ole Smoky whiskeys range from 60-100 proof so even in these little mini bottles, they are packing some heat. I originally planned to take a small sip of each of them as I was taking the photos but after two VERY small sips I had to stop. It was 2 in the afternoon and I was buzzed from two tiny splashes - not even full sips.

Personally, I love the kick! These are just right for me. I have always preferred to have one really good strong drink over a handful of lighter cocktails. These Ole Smoky flavored whiskeys might not be "cocktails" but you could easily pour any of these over ice, no extra mixer, and have a perfect, sipping drink. Cheers to that!

Would I buy this ready to drink cocktail again?

OMG yes! I already knew that Ole Smoky was one of my favorite brands of canned cocktails but these flavored whiskeys seal the deal and make them a GOAT in my book! I am fully obsessed with that peach whiskey and I can't wait to put the salted caramel and the peanut butter in my coffee this weekend - separately of course!

I also really love that these are mini bottles plus their flat shape make them perfect for sliding into a pocket or purse to take on the go. I am already planning ahead for the holidays and I foresee tucking these mini bottles into small stockings for quick holiday gifts.
