My favorite canned & ready-to-drink cocktails of 2021

If you've been on the fence about trying out pre-made cocktails, this is your sign to try a few in the new year. The ready-to-drink cocktail market has been on fire the last few years and the cocktails just keep getting better and better. This new generation of ready-to-drink cocktails are now soooooo much more than those original jugs of pre-made margarita mix or my early twenty somethings go-to, Boones Farm. 

Now they are complex, interesting, swanky bar worthy, AND made with real liquor. Hallelujah! The wine and malt beer flavored "cocktails" have officially been replaced with the good stuff.

And I'm the luckiest girl in the world to be right in the center of this big change with the opportunity to try hundreds of these canned and ready-to-drink cocktails. This year alone brought me new canned cocktails from brands I'd never heard of, moonshine cocktails which I immediately fell in love with, and a few other surprises along the way. I doing the dirty work of trying everything so you'll know which ready-to-drink cocktails are worth your time and money, and which you should just skip. 

So as this year comes to a close I wanted to share with you the cocktails I tried this year that I'm still thinking about in a good way. These are my all-time favorites and the ones I would 100% recommend trying in the new year. Cheers to that!

Crispy Pig Whiskey Bloody Mary

This bloody mary is so unexpected! Not only does it have whiskey instead of vodka as the liquor, it also has maple syrup, and the whole thing is combined with the best tomato base I've ever had in a ready-to-drink bloody mary. This one is so good that when I shared them with my friends, one of them asked if I had another can they could take home to enjoy again later. 

If you are at all into bloody marys, you *have* to try Crispy Pig.

Dashfire Rum Golden Latte & Bourbon Cold Brew

I was able to try the full line of Dashfire canned cocktails and they are all good but the two that really won me over are from their coffee cocktail line. The Rum Golden Latte was sweet and creamy; a perfect dessert cocktail. The Bourbon Cold Brew was a no frills, no sweet stuff, straight whiskey coffee drink and I loved every sip. I will for sure be buying more of these soon!

If you are into coffee cocktails, get these! They are the best ready-to-drink coffee cocktails I've had so far.

The entire DRNXMYTH line

This brand was my most unexpected find of the year. I'd been watching them on Instagram and they have a ton of cocktail culture swagger so I jumped at the chance when their PR team reached out. Each of their cocktails is crafted with a master mixologist, they used fresh pressed juices, and their cocktails arrive chilled in a cooler but that's not even the coolest part. The DRNXMYTH cocktails come in a double chambered bottle that keeps the liquor and the mix separate until you combine it. It is genius, fun, and you can totally taste the freshness that level of detail provides.

DRNXMYTH is in an entire league of it's own and their full line is a must-try!

Slow & Low Rock and Rye

If DRNXMYTH has cocktail culture swagger then Slow & Low may have invented it. I originally picked up on of the small cans of Slow & Low's version of an Old Fashioned because I love a good Old Fashioned and this brand just seemed right. I had a bit if an issue with my can and the brand immediately reached out and sent me a full bottle plus a ton of brand swag that is honestly way cooler than I could ever hope to be. So I was already smitten with this brand before I'd even taken a sip but that as all quickly replaced by how dang good their Rock and Rye is. It's like the best Old Fashioned you've ever had with a little something extra. In this case it is the pop rocks.

If you love a whiskey drink, you deserve to have a bottle of this in your life. Don't even get the little single serving can. Go for the bottle! You won't regret it.
