Ready-to-drink cocktail review: Slim Chillers Skinny Freezer Cosmopolitan

Posted by Jaime Fowler on

Boozy popsicle review of Slim Chillers Cosmopolitan Boozy popsicle cocktails? Yes, please!

I have been hearing my Costco-loving friends raving about these skinny, alcoholic otter pops all summer. I am (maybe) one of the few people in the country that doesn't have a Costco membership so they haven't been on my radar for this blog but then something awesome happened! I spotted them at Total Wine!!!! My hero and favorite place on Earth. Total Wine to the rescue.

Even better, Total Wine is selling them individually or in the container so you could try all four flavors individually before committing to a full container. That's just smart on their part! While the packaging isn't my favorite - you know I love cute packaging - I vowed not to hold that against the Slim Chillers and picked up this cosmo one to try first. I popped it the freezer when I got home and last night after a particularly long couple of weeks, I decided it was time.

Here is my official review of Slim Chiller's Skinny Freezer in Cosmo:

Five cocktail shakers

WOW! I don't know if it was the packaging or my childhood memory of these ice pops not having a lot of flavor but this little frozen cocktail in a popsicle shocked me!

It took me a few seconds to remember how to operate one of these plastic tubes without making a huge mess or freezing my fingers off but once I did - what a reward! This is a super solid cocktail - flavor wise, not ice wise. The icy consistency was way nicer than the kid version where the ice and the flavor don't melt at the same time so you get either all flavor or all ice. Not with these! The alcohol in these ensures that they don't freeze as hard which then results in a perfectly slushy, flavorful cocktail.

And the flavor is spot on. It doesn't taste artificial in any way. It tastes like a legit, freshly mixed cosmo. And it packs the same boozy punch as a traditional cosmo. All in all, this is a sleeper hit and you should 100% pick them up this weekend.

Hint: A little birdie told me that they are only going to be available through Labor Day and they won't restocked so if you find them - buy all the Slim Chillers!

Sweetness

Three cocktail shakers
One shaker = not sweet at all  // Five shakers = your teeth may curl

This boozy popsicle wasn't particular sweet. It was right in the middle for me. It had the exact right balance of tart and sweet that you would expect from a cosmo. Even better, it didn't taste like yucky, fake sugar like the kid version does.

Booziness

Two cocktail shakers
One shaker = does this have booze? Five shakers = Four Lokos

The Skinny Freezer's officially ring in at 8% ABV - which for the size of these things means they really pack a punch. After one, I had the perfect fuzz and instantly wanted another one. Sadly for me, I only picked up this one to try. I'm willing to bet that if I had another one, I would have had a pretty good buzz going. These things are so good - and also so dangerous! LOL

The Pursuit of Cocktails ready to drink cocktail review of Slim Chillers Skinny Freezers

Would I buy this cocktail mix again?

I. Can. Not. Wait. To have more of these and try *all* the flavors. Skinny Freezers are also available in Lemon Drop, Appletini, and Watermelon Lemonade.

And if I'm being honest, I want to try their wine freezes too available in Orangeberry Mimosa, Blackberry Pomegranate Sangria, Strawberry Grapefruit Rossini, and Peach Mango Bellini.

Have you tried this boozy popsicle? What did you think? I'd love to hear from you in the comments section. The more opinions the better! Let's "drink together" and share our cocktail stories.

    • I tried freezing in container didn’t work so I took them out and spread them out in freezer. Not all are freezing well. Why is this? Other than that I love them!!

    • These people do not have a working phone number on their website, do not return emails and do not list their actual sweetening ingredients- beware!
